November 2024: Launch of Koala Alliances

From Day 1: Established meaningful relationships with animal welfare organisations, politicians, conservation groups, and advocacy networks. And Built a strong and growing following on social media platforms, particularly Facebook and Instagram, to raise awareness and inspire action.

From Nov 2024: Ongoing – Legislative Contributions – Contributed to draft reforms through public submissions on legislation impacting koala conservation.

Jan -April 2025 – National Koala Protection Priorities – Developed key recommendations ahead of the federal election, gaining support from politicians across parties.

April 2025 – Budj Bim Koala Shooting Campaign – Launched a campaign and government petition calling for an inquiry into the Budj Bim shootings, later debated in Parliament. A follow-up report is being produced based on investigations on the ground during and after the shootings, documenting evidence of massive koala welfare issue caused by blue gum plantation harvesting.

May 2025 – Political Advocacy – Met with the Environment Minister, Shadow Environment Minister, and MPs from multiple parties to advocate for stronger koala protections.

Sept – Nov 2025 – French Island Koala Investigation – Conducted an in-depth investigation into the situation for koalas on French Island, followed by a detailed report with practical recommendations.

Nov 2025 – Engagement with Government – Participated in a roundtable with the Environment Minister and submitted a comprehensive report outlining critical issues and recommendations for koalas in Victoria.

Jan – Feb 2026 – Strategic Planning – Developed a long-term strategy for the Koala Alliance, including key reports on best practice in koala conservation and analysis of gaps in current management.

Feb-March 2026 – Wildlife Emergency Response – Coordinated volunteers and raised funds to respond to recent bushfires, including rescue, rehabilitation, and support for impacted koalas, as well as providing food and water drops for wildlife on private land.
